We were very adamant about spending New Year’s Eve in Times Square. No matter what people told us about all the horror stories, Jorge and I kept reassuring ourselves that it would be a good time. Then we found out about the bathroom situation (or rather the lack thereof), and we read about people wearing diapers. And if that wasn’t enough, we found out about how utterly sober the experience would be from 1 PM until the ball finally dropped at midnight.
So we made an executive decision against Times Square. Instead, we spent the night eating a fabulous dinner at our favorite, Katz’s Deli, and then we bar-hopped from Pianos to The Library Bar to The Graham, where we rang in the New Year with a champagne toast.
The night might have been crazy as we kept deciding our next moves spontaneously (admittedly, there was a stint in Coney Island for a very short second before we decided it wasn’t the scene for us) and the whole night was a lot more expensive than we had planned on (Yes, that includes a $50 Uber ride). But I don’t think I would trade it for anything. And I’m glad I wasn’t in Times Square wearing a diaper.
